the longest time degree show
The Longest Time (June 2007)
(performance piece duration 2 hours a day over the week)
“I just knew that this would be for the longest time
That no matter how much we agreed to not talk about what we knew was inevitable...
it just couldn’t be helped.
This future impending upon us, as day and hour go by,
minute and second.
These things... these questions we hid from ourselves pretending they weren’t real...
whilst we were hiding ourselves away
pretending it was real.
But how could it be.
Started under false pretences. Started with the knowledge of the end.
No.
Not just the knowledge.
We had the date. The date that would haunt us until we reached it, and even then... a date that I am sure will haunt us long after we have parted.
He stood there. Bright powerful yellow light shimmering around him.
All around him. Like some unnatural being. Like someone poisoned with radiation.
Like an angel.
And it seemed so wonderful... He was. Yet there was something sinister in the shadow. The sun marked his outline, yet the lack of it made him disappear. The darkness...I couldn’t see his face.
He could have been anybody.”
